On 17 June, a delegation of the Constitutional Court, led by Judge Vladimir Sivitskiy, participated in the International Conference entitled «The Development of Constitutional Justice in New Democracies» dedicated to the 35rd anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The solemn opening of the event started with a video welcome address from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, in which he emphasized an important role of the independent constitutional justice in ensuring the democratic development of the state. In his welcome speech, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Kyrgyz Republic Emil Oskonbaev expressed gratitude to participants for attending the event.
The Judge of the Constitutional Court, Vladimir Sivitskiy, took part in the meeting of the Eurasian Association of Constitutional Review Bodies, and made a presentation at the session on «Experience of the Formation of Constitutional Justice: Achievements, Difficulties and Challenges». In his presentation on the topic «Some Innovations of Regulation and Practice of Review Constitutional Complaints in the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation» he introduced the practice of Russian constitutional legal proceedings, focusing on the rules regarding the exhaustion of domestic remedies.
The Conference was held to strengthen dialogue between constitutional review bodies, exchange experience and discuss modern challenges for constitutional justice in a time of global changes.
Representatives from more than 20 countries and international organisations took part in the discussion on the current issues related to the formation and transformation of constitutional review bodies and the protection of human rights and freedoms.
